My man and I have run up against a fundamental difference in attitude on a subject that's deeply important to both of us. For either one to give in would mean going against our principles, and there doesn't yet seem to be a way to compromise. The bitch of it all is he didn't have a problem when it was theoretical(or at least never TOLD me he did, which is worse), but now that it's actually possible, he does. This could be a deal-breaker.

    Market Day - a poem

    Monday, July 28, 2008, 04:48 PM [General]

    Cheap silvertone owl necklace

    @ the Saturday fair,

earrings to match, ten dollars for the set.

    Shiny gimcrack, witchy-long

    yet graceful of line

    in its more-than-slightly-heart-shaped body,

    The wisdom of Athena

    somehow shining in its

    faceted, black glass eyes,

Now at home 'round my throat.

    Nothin' to do today...

    Monday, July 21, 2008, 12:39 PM [General]

Well, except for cleaning my kitchen, but that won't take long, and it doesn't have to be done right now.

It is simply beautiful today. It took awhile for the good summer weather to come in, but it has done so for sure. If you ever want your friends to move to Oregon, invite them to visit during the summer! Just make sure they get moved 'fore winter kicks in lol

This past Saturday was my best friend's 34th birthday. We had a lovely time. We had a Superhroes, Supervillains & Sidekicks party down at our favorite dive bar. I brought prints of my photographs for prizes, and a few for auction(sold one o'those for less than I thought I should get, but who cares? Someone wanted it enough to give me the sweat of their brow for it). I went as a Supervillain. A parapalegic, gothic Supervillain with telekinetic and reverse-empath powers. My catch phrase was "look upon me and despair" but I tended to ruin the effect by snickering when I said it. I tried to sound evil, but it just wasn't happenening until this raucous drunk guy made to grab my chair and wheel me around one too many times (I thought he was gonna tip me over). I whirled around and snarled," Touch me one more time!" and you should have seen his hands fly up off of the handles, and how fast he backed away. I think I saw genuine fear in his eyes. Not sure how I feel about that. But, that was the only incident of the evening, (it was a neutral-ground event, and all super-rivalries were left at the door) and a good time was had by all. Sadly, my computer seems to have swallowed all the pictures from the party, so I think I'm screwed on the whole "evidence of super-beings" thing.

    I love a costume party.

    Just some rambling...

    Monday, June 23, 2008, 12:49 PM [General]

So, summer is finally here, and the weather has decided to catch up with the times. It was cold and wet here forever this year! I live for the summer, the warm weather, the opportunities to haul out my camera and make a little visual magick. I would post more of my stuff, but I mainly shoot fine art B&W nudes, and I think that's not allowed here.

Had a loooong, very reassuring (for both of us) chat with my love last night, and eased both of our minds subsantially. I think we might make it after all. I certainly want us to. I love him very much. And I know he loves me, like no one ever has.

I've had far too many days off work, not getting scheduled much, but the rest was nice, and it gave me a chance to get some more things unpacked, get some art up on my walls. The apartment is really starting to look nice, and the house altar has shaped up beautifully. Once I can get some batteries for my camera I'll take some photos and post them.

I decided long ago that coffee is the nectar of the gods. Maybe I'll post a blog about that in the Kitchen Witches group I joined.

    Pride

    Monday, June 16, 2008, 01:05 PM [General]

Yesterday was the Gay Pride parade here in Portland. It was quite a lot of fun, and it was neat seeing people I know in the march. Next year we'll be marching.

My best friend wore his cutest mini-skirt to, "honor Stonewall and all the drag queens who had to throw rocks at cops so we could have a party." Ha ha ha! That wasn't the only reason, of course. He's just deliciously sarcastic. And he looks great in a mini-skirt!

My boyfriend came with us. Not really his scene, or should I say, not something he's really been exposed to before, but he had a good time, and got a big kick out of seeing me get all flustered and shy down at the Waterfront when this simply beautiful girl looked at me with a sparkle in her eye and a big smile on her face. You always know when someone is admiring you, and this woman was giving me the look. I know I blushed. Wish I wasn't so shy! Wish I'd talked to her.

The weather was beautiful, and I got sunburned, so it was a very good day.
